Negotiations towards a new agreement between LKAB Malmtrafik AS and the National Union of Norwegian Locomotivemen came to a halt in the early hours of Thursday 27 November.
LKAB intends to continue to manage locomotive operations in Narvik, but cannot accept that the decision on manning be included in the salary agreement.
The strike involves about 30 locomotive drivers stationed in Narvik. Half of LKAB's ore trains have been cancelled. LKAB's deliveries are not affected in the short term, but the strike may have consequences if the conflict persists. More information is forthcoming.
