Anders Furbeck will assume responsibility for sustainability issues, Stefan Hämäläinen will manage urban transformation and Monica Quinteiro will be General Manager of operations in Svappavaara.
Effective 1 April, Senior Vice President Anders Furbeck will assume responsibility for sustainability issues within the LKAB Group. The unit will also include functions that were formerly managed by the Quality department.
"Sustainability issues are increasingly important in the world around us, and LKAB's long-term efforts in, for example, energy efficiency and environmental and social responsibility provide a very good starting point. To support our new sustainability strategy, we are now dedicating a new unit specifically for these issues," explains President and CEO, Lars-Eric Aaro.
Effective 11 March, Stefan Hämäläinen will assume responsibility for urban transformation in the orefields communities and will answer directly to the President and CEO.
"Urban transformation is a decisive factor for LKAB's future, since it will secure the conditions for continued operation of our underground mines."
Effective 1 April, Monica Quinteiro will be appointed General Manager of mines and processing plants in Svappavaara and will answer directly to the Senior Vice President for the Mining division.
"With new mines and other major investments, Svappavaara faces an exciting development which is of great importance for LKAB's growth and will demand consolidated and effective management of all operations."
