LKAB is one of several official partners to Sweden at Expo 2020 Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
"As one of Sweden's oldest industrial companies, we look forward to strengthening the image of LKAB and Sweden in the world," says Jan Moström, President and CEO of LKAB.

The world exhibition Expo 2020 in Dubai will take place from 20 October, 2020 to 10 April, 2021. This will be the first World Expo ever hosted in the Middle East and Africa (MENA) region, an important export market for Swedish companies.
At Expo 2020, Swedish companies will be able to showcase their world-leading sustainability solutions and innovation power. With around 25 million expected visitors, Expo 2020 will strengthen a positive image of Sweden internationally, as well as increase Sweden's attractiveness for tourism and investments.

The theme of Expo 2020 is "Connecting Minds, Creating the Future", and will be divided into three focus areas: Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability. The working theme of Sweden is "Co-creation for Innovation", and the Swedish pavilion will be in the Sustainability area covering a total space of approximately 2,700 square meters.

LKAB was already represented at the World Expo in Chicago in 1893, when Hjalmar Lundbohm was appointed the state's representative for the Swedish pavilion, and in Paris in 1900 with a model of Kiirunavaara and the planned community of Kiruna.

"For LKAB, Middle East and North Africa is an important market, and the purpose of the world expo, to highlight innovations and ideas that improve the world and contribute to sustainable development, is fully in line with LKAB's development initiatives such as; SUM-Sustainable Underground Mining, HYBRIT for fossil-free steel and ReeMAP, the extraction of rare earth metals. LKAB is a company in constant development and we show that the work we do fills an important role in meeting the sustainability challenges facing the world, something LKAB will continue to be part of also in the future," says Jan Moström, President and CEO of LKAB.
