LKAB’s open pit mines are located in Svappavaara, roughly 40 km south of the city of Kiruna. Iron ore is mined by conventional drill/blast methods in an open pit and is then crushed and screened through magnetic separation to produce mill feed for the pelletizing plants. Flotation, concentrating and pelletizing plants are also located in Svappavaara.

About the position:

We are a small mine planning department at Svappavaara responsible for mine design and production scheduling for open pits. We now have look for a qualified mine surveyor to provide timely and accurate surveying services at the Svappavaara mine site.

As qualified surveyor your working tasks will include mapping the mine site and holding the mining map up to date (Web GIS). You will be are responsible for providing the Mining Inspectorate of Sweden records of the mine workings on regular basis along with other typical surveying tasks as GPS-measurements or laser scanning for example. Within Svappavaara you will be the contact person on all survey related matters both for the internal and external customers. Most of the hands on surveying is done by external consults (surveying technicians).

Your job is to develop all methods and routines within your working place so that above tasks can be performed according to LKAB’s values and CIR.

You are reporting to the manager for the mine planning department and work in close cooperation with both mine planning department and mine production department but also with other departments within Svappavaara.

Your qualifications:

We require minimum of Mine Technician or Surveying Technician diploma with basic understanding of mine planning / surveying software. Preferred surveying experience in mining environment (UG/OP) or equivalent rock engineering is meritorious. Being authorized/qualified mine surveyor or having previous supervisor position in surveying is highly regarded.

Fluency in English (both written and spoken) and willingness to learn Swedish as well as a valid driver’s license are basic requirements.
