LKAB is seeking a mine geologist to join the underground geology team in Kiruna. LKAB is currently building a corporate function in strategy and business development, and an expansion plan is under development. The expansion plan focuses on organic growth as well as growth by acquisitions. The expansion potentials (mineral resources) that are currently identified are to be developed into mineral reserves according to the European reporting standard PERC (Pan-European Standard for Reporting of Exploration Results, Mineral Resources and Reserves).
A Mine Geologist is specifically responsible for studying the relationship between geology and ore formation with the aim of locating mineral resources. Through this process Mine Geologists are able to give advice on short and long term production plans.
We are looking for an underground mine geologist that can manage the drilling program and the core logging in accordance with the QAQC in practice. The work also includes updating the geological interpretation in Leapfrog and assist with geological studies as assigned.
You must have a minimum of three to five years underground mine (or open pit) operations experience and have experience in the demands that work according to international reporting standards require. It is presumed that you are qualified in geology or related field. Familiarity with Microstation, Leapfrog and Datashed software (or similar software) is an advantage preferred.
Ability to work within a team environment and possess excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills required. You express yourself in written and spoken English and/or Swedish. The position as mine geologist belong to the mine planning department. You are based in Kiruna.
