LKAB has recently started to report mineral resources and reserves according to the European reporting standard PERC (Pan-European Standard for Reporting of Exploration Results, Mineral Resources and Reserves).
About the position
We are now looking for an experienced mining engineer that can act as the company’s Competent Person regarding the annual reporting of mineral reserves. The work includes coordinating the reporting of the company’s mineral reserves, signing of the company’s report of mineral reserves, and support the work of developing working methods and reporting in the company together with colleagues on the exploration/mineral resources side. The work also includes, when time permits, to manage the early project phases of mining-related expansion projects.
You must have at least five years relevant experience in the style of mineralization or type of deposit under consideration and in the activity which you will be undertaking. You must also be authorized to act as Competent Person by a recognized professional organization. Since the Competent Person estimates, or supervises the estimation of Mineral Reserves, your relevant experience must be in the estimation, assessment, evaluation and economic extraction of Mineral Reserves. The relevant experience must also be current and, where practical, continuous within the industry. It is presumed that you are qualified in mining engineering and mineral processing.
You have strong integrity, adhere to code of ethics, have a well-developed ability to cooperate and to communicate with other people, and an interest in and experience from leadership. You are systematic, structured and self-propelled. You express yourself well in written and spoken English and/or Swedish. The position as Competent Person belongs to the corporate support unit of Exploration, Strategy and Business Development, and will report directly to the unit manager and to the CEO of the company. You will be based in Kiruna or Gällivare, close to the mines. Travel will be a natural part of the job.
