The first-line manager, the production manager, is, together with his or her co-workers in production, the lifeblood of LKAB.
"The most important thing for me as a manager is for my employees to thrive. I have relatively few employees and can be present in the role of manager," says Mikael Winsa, production manager for the staff at the Kiruna mine.
What do you do at work?
"My job as production manager for the staff means that I take care of long-term production planning, making sure that we have open shafts and finished production areas in time for loading to start.
I am responsible for production planning on a weekly and monthly basis and lead daily meetings during which we review and prioritise the day's work."
What challenges can you see?
"The challenges of the job are coordination with other departments in KUJ and working flexibly and quickly to reorganise loading if problems arise in any area."
What do you enjoy most about your job?
"The most fun thing is being able to have an impact, having my proposals listened to and working with my fantastic employees."
Why do you work at LKAB?
"I think LKAB is a fantastic employer – you can develop, rise through the ranks and there are many different jobs that you can try.
How do you view the future?
"The future looks bright to me. I enjoy my job and have good colleagues. The situation also looks healthy in production terms at the Kiruna mine."
