The logotype is our most important visual element. It must therefore be treated with care. The wordmark and the symbol form a unit that must not be separated or changed. That the logo is used consistently is also important for being able to retain exclusive rights to the LKAB trademark.

So that we can create a consistent look whatever the technicalities and area of use, we have two variants of the logo to choose from. All the variants of the logo are available in both portrait and landscape format.

Colour logo

The colour logo in landscape format is always to be the first-choice option. Where the space in which the logo is to be placed is limited, our logo in portrait format can be used. The colour logo is available with a black or white wordmark. Always choose the variant that contrasts most with the background.

Monochrome logo

The logo is also available in a black or white version for use in monochrome printed material or when the logo is to be placed on a background colour that is not approved. Always choose the variant that contrasts most with the background.

Clear space

The logo is always to be surrounded by clear space. The clear space is the minimum distance to other graphics, text and images. The purpose of the space is so that the logo remains clear and so that there is no risk of other elements being perceived as being part of the logo. The greater the space left around the logo, the clearer it appears.

In the case of the standard logo the clear space must be equal to at least 1/3 of the height of the wordmark.

In the case of the alternative logo the clear space is to equal at least 1/2 of the height of the wordmark.

Positioning

Consistent positioning of the logo makes layout work more efficient and creates recognition. A good place to position the logo is in one of the top two corners. If the logo is the only message on the item, such as on a flag or sticker, it may be centred.

Background

Our colour logos may be placed on backgrounds that are white and in LKAB’s identity and supplementary colours with the exception of black, where we use a white logo, or alternatively against neutral grey shades. Logos may also be placed on calm images if the colours of the image harmonise with the colours of the logo. Always choose the variant that contrasts most with the background. In certain cases the colour logo may also be placed on a white background.

Monochrome logos may be placed on backgrounds that are white, black or other colours.

Do not:

  • Change the colour or shape of the logo
  • Place the colour logo on a black background or LKAB Blue
  • Place the colour logo on colours other than LKAB’s own or neutral grey

Sizes

Our logo is designed to be able to be used in most contexts and sizes. There are three optimised logos: small, medium and large.

  • “Small” standard logo
    Used on small items such as pens, badges, business cards, envelopes and correspondence cards. Sizes between 18 and 35 mm.
  • “Medium” standard logo
    Used for the most common printing sizes such as A5, A4, A3. Sizes between 35 and 100 mm.
  • “Large” standard logo
    Used only for large-scale decals such as on signs and vehicles. Sizes greater than 100 mm.
  • Alternative “small” logo
    Used on small items such as pens, badges, business cards, envelopes and correspondence cards. Sizes between 8 and 15 mm.
  • Alternative “medium” logo
    Used for the most common printing sizes such as A5, A4, A3 etc. Sizes between 15 and 80 mm.
  • Alternative “large” logo
    Used only for illuminated signs. Sizes greater than 80 mm.

Subsidiaries

LKAB’s subsidiaries are named according to the principle of LKAB with an add-on text that describes the company’s operations, for example LKAB Fastigheter (LKAB Real Estate). These companies are part of the LKAB brand and do not use their own logos. If necessary, a wordmark with the company name – without symbols or distinguishing typography – can be used. The wordmark with the company name must not be used as part of the logo.

Do not:

  • Create a separate logo for the company
  • Put the LKAB logo next to the subsidiary’s wordmark
  • Combine parts of the LKAB logo with parts of the subsidiary’s wordmark
  • Change or adjust the shape, proportions or colours in any way
