Urban transformations

LKAB’s continued mining operations presuppose that urban transformation in Kiruna and Malmberget are carried out with good forward planning and pronounced collaboration with the municipalities.

Good teamwork between LKAB and the authorities concerned with clear roles and division of responsibilities are necessary for achieving measures and gaining permits in a timely fashion. It is especially important that new detailed plans for the mine city parks are adopted.

Area plan

LKAB’s housing in Kiruna and Malmberget will be closed according to the 2010–2020 housing supply plan. There is a plan for managing cultural assets and buildings in Kiruna and Malmberget that will entail significant costs. Reasonable financial affects on LKAB can be ensured through the proactive efforts of everyone concerned.
