LKAB’s requirements for researchers and engineers with a varied range of specialist fields in a growing global iron ore market are very large. The objective is to remain at the leading edge of developments in the entire chain from mine to customer. Prioritized fields are mining technology and rock mechanics, processing and agglomeration, environment, logistics and the urban transformations in Kiruna and Gällivare.
Research financing
As a step toward achieving research and skills supply LKAB is deeply involved with Luleå University of Technology and it finances the research foundations Hjalmar Lundbohm Research Centre, and LKAB Research Centre. The breadth of demand for skills makes LKAB an attractive employer, not least for academics in a range of different fields. There are also very good opportunities for further development through education and trainee positions at LKAB.
