Research organization

LKAB's research organization is a part of the unit Technology and Business Development. The research operations includes four areas: metallurgy, process technology, mining technology and process control. Most of the work is carried out on a project basis.

The overall objectives of research are to develop:

• new products with high value for the customers

• quality and cost-efficient processes

Our researchers work in close collaboration with the production units as well as in the research laboratories in Kiruna and Malmberget and at the experimental blast furnace in LuleÂ. LKAB also works closely on product development with our customers on the home market and international customers.
